Once upon a time in 1890, it came to pass that the Berlin Conference was held. Later in the 1960s and '70s, the Cold War blew it's icy winds over parts of Africa. Today China is the "New Power in Africa ... a Benefactor and Competitor..." (?!)
Meanwhile, the new American combat command called AFRICOM, is set to oversee military, "humanitarian, and good governance programs" on the continent!
